Our Story
The story of Carico’s specialty coffee began in 1955 when we organized the first small cooperative farms in the Bugisu region in the mountains of Eastern Uganda.
The families from these farming communities grow Carico coffee beans on the slopes of Mount Elgon today.
Our Partners
We produce our coffee in harmony with the local ecosystem and the farmers who grow our coffee are 50% partners, profiting directly from each bag of coffee sold here.
We remain committed to this legacy of equitable enterprise and sustainability as we bring our coffee to the U.S. for the first time.
Our Coffee
Creating specialty coffee with a cupping score of 86 is an impressive benchmark, but in essence, this number means one wonderful thing: Carico coffee has a superb flavor.
Our single origin Bugisu Arabica is smooth yet bold with hints of the pristine, lush highlands where it is grown.
Your Experience
Every taste is an experience of ripe stone fruit earthiness, a whisper of red berries and nuts, and a smoldering finish of buttery velvet which is the hallmark of artisan roasting in California by master roaster Kip Rolfe.
